This is a video reference library to get you started in learning the 7th chords that get played again and again in music. It was created for my piano students, but, It is super helpful for giving non piano students a boost in understanding the chords. Bookmark the page so you can always find them.
In the continuing effort to help my students with what we did in lessons, and to give them a concrete reference for all of the 7th chords. I created this video series.
To save having to hunt for all the videos, here they are in sequential order.
The cards used in the videos are below. You don't need the cards to play the scales and chords, but it sure helps! (especially for uncertain beginners who need a little extra help).
The order is:
The Major Scale Part 2
The Major 7th Chord
The Dominant 7th Chord
The Minor 7th Chord
The Minor 7 flat 5 Chord (aka half diminished)
The Diminished 7th Chord
The Major 6th
The Minor 6th
Each video explains how the chords are built. Each chord starts with a major scale using 4 fingers in each hand. These videos are NOT meant to teach scale fingerings for one hand or the other. Instead, they are meant to teach scale degree, how chords are built, and getting the different sounds in the ear. (Don't worry, that will be in a later series)
